Nintendo’s new hybrid gaming system looks is being released soon and although most of the big questions surrounding it have been answered, there is still one BIG question that lots of people are asking. What is the battery life of the Nintendo Switch?

What is the Nintendo Switch?

The Nintendo Switch is a gaming console that can also be used on-the-go. At first glance, this system seems a lot like the Wii U. The difference being the portability if offers. This new system has a tablet-like screen which can be connected directly to your TV, stand alone using a kickstand, or be handheld for gaming anywhere.

As always, battery life is a tricky question. It’s tricky because how long is will last on a single charge will vary depending on how you are using the system. Some games will use more battery power than others. Nintendo says that the battery will last 3 hours when playing The Legend of Zelda: Breth of the Wild.

In general, the battery will last between 2.5 and 6 hours. Since the system can be played while charging 6 hours should be enough time for a few family members to get their chance at some on-the-go fun.

If you were in a tight spot, you could always plug it up and use the tablet tabletop instead of handheld.

How Many Games are Available?

The Legend of Zelda is just one of the games that will be available for this system. Upon the launch in March, only a few games will be available.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Zelda made the cut. In the upcoming months, more games will be available such as Splatoon 2 (this is what I’m looking forward to) and Minecraft: Story Mode (my kid’s fave!).
